FDM met Mrs Rose in 2009. She had a sizable investment she needed management for. Because of her strong financial position at the time we recommended a Living Annuity. This will have ensured her with a monthly income as well as an attractive growth rate.
The initial amount she invested in her Living annuity in April 2009 was R12 303 128. Mrs Rose was able to receive a monthly income from her annuity that amounted to R80 000.
Like most of our other clients Mrs Rose experienced a substantial percentage growth on the investment she made with FDM. Her Living annuity currently (August 2016) shows an internal rate of return of 14.67% (net of fees) and has a current value of R 18 666 108.
Already having built a trusted relationship with Mrs Rose, she made several other investments with FDM, and these investments are also growing at a significant rate. The efficient management of Mrs Roses’ funds has given her financial independence and certainty that she will have an uncomplicated and easy retirement.
FDM was established in 1999 and we pride ourselves in the services we have been providing ever since. In May 1999 Mr Smith retired and as part of his retirement package he received a lump sum pension payment of R2.4 million. He contacted FDM for advice pertaining to the pension lump sum and his income requirements.
FDM evaluated Mr Smith’s personal circumstances and specific requirements and developed a tailor-made financial plan for him. At the time, Mr Smith was newly-retired and in good health, thus he required regular withdrawals from the investment for a significant time period. The proposed financial plan consisted of a Living Annuity that invested in a selection of Unit Trusts. The investment portfolio inherently had a fair amount of short-term uncertainty, however it allowed the investment to generate a healthy return in the long run.
Since 1999 Mr Smith has received a monthly income from this Living Annuity of 6.60% per annum of the total value of the investment. Currently (August 2016) that amounts to R57 487 per month, which provides an adequate income for him. The value of the Living Annuity grew remarkably well, despite his income requirements and stands at R10.2 million in August 2016.
Taking into account the withdrawals, the return translates into an annualised internal rate of return of 15.32% over the 17 years. Mr Smith continues to enjoy a happy retirement.
